Jordan Crandall

Jordan Crandall is an artist, writer, and performer. He is a Professor in the Visual Arts Department at University of California, San Diego. His work blends media art, political theatre, technoscientific inquiry, and philosophical speculation in the form of video installations, writings, multimedia projects and performances. It explores ontologies of distributed systems, and the status of the human in a landscape increasingly dependent on automated technology. He is currently completing Autodrive, a work of literary fiction from which this submission is drawn, which speculates on the challenges brought by the rise of artificial intelligence in the culture of automotive life.

The driver with whom I was partnered was unable to lower his window, which required him to communicate with nonverbal indicators that I could not understand.
