Alaric López

Alaric López (she/they) is a millennial Chicanx musician, songwriter, poet, intermedia artist, and literary translator. Alaric earned her BA in Creative Writing (summa cum laude & departmental honors) from University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) in 2020, and her MFA in Writing from University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in 2024. At UCSD she invented an intermedia form of poetry called “action writing” for her epic thesis book Where Was I? — a form used here in “-o/-a/-x”. Alaric co-translated the bilingual edition of Los últimos inanes días / The last inane days (DobleAEditores 2023) by Chilean poet/philosopher Paula Cucurella, and so far has had poetry and literary translation published in the Rio Grande Review and Alchemy: Journal of Translation. Since 2012, Alaric has recorded, released, and performed her music under the alias Monarcadia (available through her Bandcamp site monarcadia.bandcamp.com).
