Alexandra Ripp
Alexandra Ripp es directora de Five College Dance, una colaboración entre las cátedras de danza de las facultades de Amherst, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke y Smith y de la Universidad de Massachusetts Amherst. Antes de este puesto, fue becaria postdoctoral de DiSTIL (Discovery Through Iterative Learning, o Descubrimiento a través de la aprendizaje iterativa) de la fundación a Carolina Performing Arts (CPA) a la Universidad de Carolina del Norte en Chapel Hill Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC), donde supervisó proyectos colaborativos de larga duración entre artistas invitados, profesores, estudiantes, y miembros de la comunidad local. A CPA, también fundió The Commons (La Comuna), una residencia y un festival de las artes escénicas, centrado en la crítica de arte, para artistas de la región. Ripp ha actuado como dramaturgista a Yale School of Drama y Yale Repertory Theater, y continúa su trabajo en este área con artistas de teatro y danza. Alexandra Ripp is the Director of Five College Dance, a collaboration between the dance departments and programs of Amherst, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke and Smith Colleges and University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to FCD, she was the DisTIL (Discovery Through Iterative Learning) Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Carolina Performing Arts (CPA) at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she oversaw collaborative, long-term projects between visiting artists, faculty, students, and local community members. At CPA, she founded The Commons, an arts criticism-focused residency program and performance festival for locally based performing artists. Ripp has also produced and curated the Ideas series of lectures, panels, and symposia at the International Festival of Arts and Ideas in New Haven, Connecticut.
Ripp has translated five Chilean plays for professional U.S. tours, and her translation of Trinidad González’s La reuníon was selected for the 2016 PEN World Voices Festival. Her translations and writing on performance have been published in Theater, PAJ: A Journal of Performing Arts, and Theater Journal and on Fusebox’s Written and Spoken platform. She has also been an associate editor of Theater magazine.
As a dramaturg, Ripp has worked at both the Yale School of Drama and Yale Repertory Theater, and is currently collaborating with performance group Culture Mill. She holds an MFA and DFA from the Yale School of Drama in Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism, where she was a two-time winner of the John W. Gassner Award for Criticism.
