Amy Letman

Amy Letman is Creative Director of Transform in Leeds, UK, an engine room for new theatre and creators of the biennial Transform festivals, citywide takeovers of powerful, international performance. The latest festival, Transform 19, featured artists from five continents and unfolded across arts venues, school halls, clubs, and television studios. Amy is also Associate Programmer at Battersea Arts Centre, London. Previously, Amy was Associate Producer at Leeds Playhouse, one of the largest producing theatres in the North of England, and she produced independently for theatre company RashDash. She has presented guest programs at venues including Barbican, London, and her commissioning and production credits include the UK Theatre award-winning Three Sisters by RashDash and the Fringe First award=winning The Believers Are But Brothers by Javaad Alipoor. She participated in the European Festivals Association Atelier for Young Festival Managers, and she was a recipient of the Artists International Development Award on two occasions. Amy is founder of Festivals of the Future, a Creative Europe network supporting founder and female-led festivals.

Cycling through the city, I sketch out our theatre. I imagine the possibilities of claiming these spaces for performance instead. A multitude of contexts, rooms and stages for artists to create the tiny and intimate, the bold and epic.
