Gideon Lester

Gideon Lester is a Tony Award-winning artistic director, dramaturg, curator, and creative producer. He is Artistic Director of the Fisher Center at Bard and Director of Bard’s undergraduate Theater & Performance Program. He has collaborated with a broad range of American and international artists, including Romeo Castellucci, Claudia Rankine, Justin Vivian Bond, Krystian Lupa, Peter Sellars, Anna Deavere Smith, Pam Tanowitz, Daniel Fish, and Neil Gaiman.

Wish-full thinking. It contains a wish, a hope, a possibility, a thought experiment, a fantasy, a “what if…”, the potential of the performance to enact change – political or social change, maybe, or a change in the energy of the room, or a psychological change, momentary or lasting, in the spectator.
