Inés Stranger

Inés Stranger es dramaturga, guionista, doctora en Estudios Teatrales en la Universidad de la Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 y Profesora Titular de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile desde 2008. Es autora de obras que han sido llevadas a escenas, traducidas y publicadas en diferentes idiomas: Cariño Malo, Malinche, Tálamo, Valdivia, La Monja Alférez, y Úrsula Suárez son los nombres de las más conocidas. 

La dramaturgia es su tema, su práctica y su manera de ver el mundo. Cree que un texto teatral informa sobre el imaginario cultural del momento en que fue creado. Ha dictado infinita cantidad de cursos y talleres a pregrado y posgrado en diferentes contextos universitarios. Ha sido formadora de muchos jóvenes dramaturgos y dramaturgas y se siente orgullosa de haberlo hecho.

 

Inés Stranger is a playwright, script writer, and full professor at the Pontificia Catholic University of Chile since 2008, with a PhD in theatre studies from the University of the Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3. She is the author of plays that have been staged, translated, and published in various languages. Among her best-known works are Cariño Malo (Bad Care), Malinche, Tálamo, Valdivia, La Monja Alférez (Alférez the Nun), and Úrsula Suárez.

Playwriting is her subject, practice, and way of seeing the world. She believes that a theatrical text informs the cultural imaginary in which it was created. She has taught many courses and workshops for undergraduate and graduate students in different universities. She has trained many young playwrights and is proud to have done so.

I renounce the scene of all conflicts. At this moment and forever, I leave this stage of pain, death, and agony. I leave the characters that those ones designed for me.
