Omar Pimienta

Omar Pimienta lives and works across the Imagined Californias. He is a visual artist, writer, and scholar whose work explores issues of transnationality, emergency poetics, and sociopolitical landscapes. His visual artwork was supported by the Art Matters grant in 2017. He has published five poetry books, one of which received the 10th Emilio Prado International Publishing Award. From 2019-22, he was a member of the Mexican Sistema Nacional de Creadores. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Border and Migration Studies in the Americas in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
