Rolando Jara
Rolando Jara es dramaturgo, Doctor y Magíster en Literatura, Licenciado en Estética.
Como dramaturgo, ha sido seleccionado en cinco ocasiones en la Muestra de Dramaturgia Nacional y presentado sus obras en Chile, Alemania, México y Argentina. Ha abordado la escritura teatral, la dramaturgia para la danza y la ópera.
De sus textos teatrales destacan Costas de Hielo, La Bilis Negra, Proyecto/Fausto, Polen, Calias, tentativas sobre la belleza, Hombre acosado por demonios ante un espejo, la ópera Lamentaciones, coautoría con el compositor Cristian Morales Ossio, y Vertebral, trabajo de dramaturgia en tiempo real, junto a la bailarina y coreógrafa Macarena Campbell.
Actualmente es profesor asociado del Departamento de Danza, de la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile, donde se desempeña en las áreas de creación y teoría e historia del arte escénico.
Rolando Jara is a playwright, with a Ph.D. and M.A. in Literature, and a B.A. in Aesthetics.
As a playwright, he has been selected five times for Chile’s Muestra de Dramaturgia Nacional (National Playwriting Showing). His plays have been produced in Chile, Germany, Mexico, and Argentina. He writes for theatre, dance, and opera.
His works for theatre include: Costas de hielo (Shores of Ice); La bilis negra (The Black Bile); Proyecto/Fausto; Polen (Pollen); Calias; tentativas sobre la belleza (attempts at beauty); Hombre acosado por demonios ante un espejo (Man Accused by Demons Before a Mirror); the opera Lamentaciones, co-authored with composer Cristian Morales Ossio; and Vertebral, a work of playwriting in real time, created together with dancer/choreographer Macarena Campbell.
He is currently Associate Professor of the Department of Dance in the School of the Arts at University of Chile, where he works on the creation, theory, and history of the performing arts.
