Rosalía Romero

Rosalía Romero is an art historian and curator based in Los Angeles. A specialist in the modern and contemporary art of Mexico and the US-Mexico borderlands, she currently serves as Assistant Professor in Art History at Pomona College. Her scholarship is focused on the entangled histories of anarchism, modernism, and border art in the early twentieth century. Romero co-curated the 2022/23 MexiCali Biennial and serves as humanities advisor for the organization. She also served as a curator for other exhibitions in the US and Mexico, most recently CrossBorder Photography at the Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College. She previously worked at the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Born in Mexicali, Baja California and raised across the border in El Centro, California, Romero earned degrees in communications from the University of California, San Diego (BA) and in art history from Duke University (PhD).
