Timothy Kazuo Steains

Timothy Kazuo Steains is a lecturer in the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney. His thesis, Becoming Mixed: Intercultural Engagements with Japan in Contemporary Australian Literature, Cinema, and Theatre, used mixed race identity as a framework to think about how cross-cultural contact can lead to the cultivation of multiple nodes of identification for people and nations. His primary research interests are in Asian Australian studies and mixed race studies.
