Ramón Griffero Sánchez

Ramón Griffero Sánchez es dramaturgo, director del teatro Fin de Siglo, y sociólogo, viviendo en Santiago de Chile. Ha realizado aportes esenciales y renovadores en el desarrollo de las artes escénicas a niveles creativos, políticos, educativos, teóricos y de gestión cultural. Es el creador de la teoría y metodología escénica de la “dramaturgia del espacio,” realizando múltiples talleres en su país e internacionales. Sus obras están traducidas y estrenadas en América Latina y Europa. Entre sus últimas obras, destaca Tus deseos en fragmentos (2003) y la Iguana de Alessandra (2018). Su labor le ha hecho merecedor del Premio Nacional de las Artes Escénicas de Chile en 2019 y el Premio Thot, por su contribución al desarrollo del teatro contemporáneo del Festival Internacional del Cairo, Egipto. A su vez ha participado activamente en movimientos sociales, construyendo espacios culturales de resistencia a la dictadura y posteriormente defendieron el arte frente a a la cultura neoliberal de mercado. Ha dirigido el Teatro Camilo Henríquez y el Teatro Nacional Chileno, y ha establecido conceptualizaciones  en la  construcción de una  institucionalidad cultural.

Ramón Griffero Sánchez is a playwright, the director of Fin de Siglo Theater, and a sociologist, living in Santiago, Chile. He has made essential contributions in the development in the performing arts at creative, political, educational, and theoretical levels, as well as in cultural affairs. His plays have been translated and staged in both Latin America and Europe. His most recent works include Tus deseos en fragmentos (Your Desires in Fragments, 2003) and La Iguana de Alessandra (2018). He is the creator of a scenic theory and methodology called “Dramaturgy of Space,” and has led multiple workshops in Chile and abroad. His work has been recognized with a National Prize for Performing Arts in Chile in 2019, and the Thot Prize for his contribution to the development of contemporary theatre in the International Festival of Cairo, Egypt. At the same time, he has actively participated in social movements, building cultural spaces that resisted the dictatorship and, later, defended art in the face of the neoliberal and market culture. He has directed the Camilo Henríquez Theater and the National Theater of Chile, and he has established concepts to construct cultural institutions in Chile.
